The First Fly I Ever Tied
The pic above was taken 5 years ago, to the day. It was a catskill style Light Cahill.
Man, I sucked.

Bet it caught fish. When I taught tying in years past, the first lesson I offered my students was that ugly flies catch fish. Oftentimes, ugly flies catch more and better fish than do their pretty cousins. Hope you still have that fly.
I never fished it. It’s laying around somewhere, I’ll have to dig it out and rephotograph it one of these days.
You’ll want to show that to your kids someday. Hold on to it. Better yet, go fish it, catch something with a large kype, and then put it away for safe-keeping.
at least you knew and could tell what kind of fly it was…my first was just a gathering of materials tied on a hook. it had no legitimate name or right to be called a “fly”. thanks to ftf at least i realize how bad it was….
