Tonight I noticed that I only had bigger Griffiths gnats that survived last trout season, so I tied up a dozen size 22′s to fill that void.

That’s a great pattern, do you find it fishes better with the post- or is that for visibility?
The black post came about because we were having issues seeing the fly in the late evening after the sun went below the horizon. Turns out, that black worked better then a white post. The white kinda got washed out with the reflections of the water surface. I am sure any black synthetic material would work, but I use the Hi-Vis Black cause I am a victim of marketing.
